MINDFUL COMMUNICATION: Why it's so damn hard, how to stay anchored and how to repair ruptures with 5 Elements Acupuncturist Chris MillerSep 16, 2021
Communication is a learned behaviour. No one comes into this life with the pre-downloaded software of “Mindful Communication” already installed. Rather, we come into this life with needs and as children, we do our best to have those needs met. Often, those strategies need to be updated in adulthood.
Entering into a triggering conversation and responding with consciousness and mindfulness when you are in an activated state is a skill. I personally learned these skill by being human, messing up a lot and seeing how much pain I could inflict with my words. Now, I teach humans how to have rooted rather than vortex conversations
My dear friend and repeat guest on The Empowered Curiosity Podcast, Chris Miller asked if he could interview me about communication. So in this episode, we turn the mic around and I sit in the guest seat and we talk about how to have difficult conversations.
I share some of my most potent strategies about entering into difficult conversations, shifting a vortex conversation into a rooted one, and how to repair the relationship after the storm has passed.
If you’d like to learn more about communication techniques, we spend an entire module of The Heart Lab developing your Communication Toolbox. Learn more about The Heart Lab here.
